Malignant brain tumor is a generally more serious and often is a threat to life. Usually, it growth rapidly and crowd or invade the nearby healthy brain tissue. Then, cancer cell may break away from malignant brain tumor and spread to other parts of the brain or to the spinal cord.

Usually brain tumors are more common in children and older adults, although people of any age can develop a brain tumor.
Men are more likely than women to develop a brain tumor. For meningloma brain tumor are more common in women.
- Home and work exposure
Exposure to solvent, pesticides, oil products, rubber, or vinyl chloride may increase the risk of developing a brain tumor.
- Family History
Some of previous case, brain tumor may be linked to hereditary (genetic) factors or condition.
- Electromagnetic fields

- Race and ethnicity
People from northern Europe are more than twice as likely to develop a brain tumor as people in Japan.
- Ionizing radiation
Usually this risk factor is from previous treatment such as ionizing radiation (include x-ray) has increase the possibility to get brain tumor.
- Head Injury and seizures
Head trauma that too serious also cause someone to get brain cancer. Brain tumor can cause seizures and otherwise the seizures also can cause brain tumor.
- N-nitroso compounds
Diet and vitamin supplementation seem to indicate that dietary N-nitroso compounds may raise the risk of both childhood and adult brain tumor. Usually N-nitroso compounds are formed from nitrates found in some cured meats, cigarette smoke and cosmetic.
